Much needed me time, Focus on yourself

Well, it's February. How have you been sticking to your New Years resolutions?

Did you know that people who explicitly make resolutions are 10 times more likely to attain their goals than people who don't explicitly make resolutions? Also 64% of people will see their resolutions through at least one month!

I have been trying to keep up with my 2016 goals. I am trying to lose weight, be more organized, save more money, etc etc etc. But it doesn't seem like that much of a task, it actually feels kind of liberating. I like the feeling of knowing my finances are in order, my house is in order, and that I am making good choices. Also when you are so busy, it is so nice to take an hour to zone out. Whether you choose to read a book that you've been eyeing, or spend an hour getting a massage...a really good resolution (and you can start anytime) is to take a little time for yourself.

I know my clients are some kick ass ladies, but as a boudoir photographer, I want you to be taking care of yourselves, because the pampering I provide during sessions will only last you so long.

I was at the gym Thursday night and I took a sweaty selfie that encouraged me to write this post for you. Some of you are brides and have the added stresses of wedding planning, some of you are mommies, some of you work your asses off. I want you to take some time for yourself to relax, recharge, get your ducks in a row. Here are some helpful ways to revive yourself. (*Bonus* a few ideas have roots local to Columbus, OH)

Sweat it out at Blue Spot, Bexley
Taking a yoga class is a great way to relax, and focus on yourself. In fact you'll be focusing so much on yourself, you'll be listening to your own breath. It will help for you to nail those poses too, because this boudoir photographer will push you to your limits, arching your back, stretching in ways you didn't think possible.

Get a blow out at The Blowout Bar, Grandview and Dublin
A good blow out gives me life! I just feel like a brand new person. And who says you need a special occasion? I might go on Saturday since my husband and I have dinner plans. They do take walk ins, but scheduling an appt will guarantee your time. I love being able to book online too, because I can't always make a call during business hours!

Visit Elli Nail Spa and get a mani, pedi, or both! Locations in Grandview, Worthington and now Dublin
Everything is so clean and personalized just for you, and the sheer number of nail polishes offered, blows my mind! The hand massage might be my favorite part of a manicure. Not to mention, all the girls know me by name and I love that. I visited Elli, just before my own boudoir session to get my nails and toes done. Treat yourself to a relaxing experience at Elli.

Meet your girls for happy hour at Grass Skirt, Downtown Columbus
I love this place because of the cool decor, the tropical drinks and the small plates. I love the fried pineapple! It's a great place to meet your girls and gossip.

Take a bubble bath, maybe get a bath bomb from Lush, Easton
One of my favorite ways to relax is to take a bubble bath. I turn the lights down, light a candle (from the Candle Lab, obviously--one of my faves is actually called bubble bath) and turn on a Pandora relaxation station. I'll be honest, I've never used Lush products but I have heard great things and I would like to some bath bombs soon.

These are just a few ideas of how to unwind from the stress of the week, but as long as you're taking time for yourself, it doesn't really matter what you do.
